  1. The best way to find hotels cheaply is to use http://www.hotelsitedirectory.com/ because this way you avoid paying third party booking engine fees. Use Hotel Site Directory to find direct hotel information and phone number and website. Call the hotel and book. Trust me best way to save money!

For Themed try Caesars or Luxor. Caesars is not cheap but has the luxury of ancient Rome carried through out the entire property. Luxor will give you the cheaper rates but the theme isn't carried out as well.

You get what you pay for in Vegas and when you book on weekends you pay up the ass for any strip hotel.

I was just there last week and managed to stay for cheap by staying at three different places throughout the week. It was a hassle to check in and check out but we had a rental car so it was worth the time for all the money we saved.

Stayed Wed/Thur @ Planet Hollywood (Prime location/Sweet Rooms, Good Price) around $79/night (Expedia)
Stayed Fri/Sat @ South Point (Ultra Cheap, Decent Rooms) around $79/night (Expedia) compared to $200-300/night on the strip
Stayed Sun/Mon/Tue @ Excalibur (Uber Cheap, Crappy Rooms, Decent View) around $39/night.

Tried to slip the desk clerk at Excalibur a $20 for a room upgrade but she was too oblivious to realize what was going on and woulnd't give us the upgrade unless we paid $30/night. Decided to save our money for gambling.

Pics of all hotels are posted on my trip report on my blog

The hotels are showing until about April right now. When are you going?

Starting 2-3 months before your dates, the hotel prices will start falling down, plus they all run Fabulous specials on this website http://smartervegas.com/ So we have never paid more than $51/night at Excalibur, even though the rates from Expedia and the hotel website say they are higher.

I think the Hotel calendar is the first to update, though. Is there a certain hotel you are interested in? I might be able to give you an average price for the month you are going.

I do a lot of searching… The places that you mentioned (Palms and Hard Rock) don't seem to run a lot of promos.. Your best bet may be to go directly through the hotel websites for those two.. I also advise searching through some of the current promotional offers that the different hotels run. There are several websites that maintain lists of deals.. Try some of the following. They all list different promos so there is no knowing which one will have the best deal for what you seek.

You can get a decent package deal there. (It's thru US Airways)

I now live in LV… but, when i came here as a tourist… i would (also) look for something that was central-strip.

You're best bet is probably BARBARY COAST. It's a smaller hotel, but the location cannot be beat. If you can do without volcano's & 17 restuarants in the lobby, this will suit you fine. The rooms are clean & the beds comfy. It's also a clean place. It's smaller so check-in will be a breeze. They have a shuttle that goes "off-strip" if you wanted to checkout Orleans or the Gold Coast.

Imperial Palace may be worth a shot – they usually have pretty reasonable prices.

Where you STAY AT wont always determine if you have the 'best vegas experience' as you put it. It can add to it, but it's not paramount.

Myself — i say save your dough on the room & splurge on shows/nice dinners/gambling with the extra $$$.

The BC isnt a dump. The casino is nice & the table minimums are really reasonable if you end up doing your gaming there.

Since it IS central strip (corner of LV Blvd & Flamingo), you can walk to nearly any hotel (from mandy-bay up to Sahara). The weather ought to be juuuuust abour right by then. North of Sahara, i'd cab it for sure — some sketchy areas beyond that.

    Have fun partner…

One final thing …. hotel rates vary GREATLY due to conventions that are in town, etc. If you're flexible with your dates… a few days later/earlier may save you a pile of dough.

Almost always .. booking with the hotel DIRECTLY via their website will get you the best rate. Check the cancellation policy. Book early, if you find something better .. re book it (((( even at the SAME HOTEL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ))

Mr. Lucky's 24-7 in the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

Ask for the "Gambler's Special" – Salad, Sirloin Steak, 3 Grilled Shrimp, and mashed potatoes – only $7.77

  9. Two Socks says:

You should try the Wild Wild West on W. Tropicana. It is a favorite for truck drivers so you know the food is cheap and good. The rooms are cheap because it is a motel rather than a hotel. The only way you can get comped is to spend lots of money gambling and it looks like you are going the cheap route so no comps for you.

You are going to have such a good time! Have you looked into the Luxor Hotel? They have a special coupon that's floating around for stay 2 nights and only pay for 1. You end up paying for less than $60 a night. You can even use it to stay for more than 2 nights and get the same deal

Just go to the Luxor Hotel website and look for promotional coupon and it will lead you through a series of steps or just go to the direct link here http://www.freehotelcoupons.info/luxor-hotel-coupon

Good luck and have some fun :)

There's a site that gives side-by-side comparisons of the best deals of different discount sites called travelaxe. You should check directly at the hotel sites themselves, though, to compare. You should know that there are no extra fees if you book directly with the hotel, and they give the most generous refund terms. Travel websites can tack on $10-$20 or more, and make it difficult to get even a partial refund, so read terms carefully.

You will not have any trouble finding a nice hotel for $100 a night(or less). If you're willing to stay Sunday through Thursday, weekends are much higher. To get the best rates in Las Vegas you have to avoid special events and large conventions.

You will find some very nice rates, from May 28 to June the 1st. I'm holding 7 nights already already beginning May 28th, the first 4 nights of my stay are at the Orleans, the rate is $24 a night, I found that rate in November on http://www.travelworm.com >the rate yesterday was $35 for those same 4 nights. The Orleans is a very nice hotel, but, I don't know what amenities you're most interested in..

I ran May 28th for 7 nights through travelworm.
Hotel – average rate for the first 4 nights – average 7 night rate
    Stratosphere – $40 – $53.14
    Orleans – $35 – $62.43
    Barbary Coast – $70 – $84.29
    Flamingo – $85 – $116.43
    Bally's – $79 – $120.57
    Luxor – $80 – $124.29

Some people don't like the Stratosphere simply because it's located on the far North end of the strip. Which makes it great for us bargain hunters. Is the Luxor a nicer hotel, absolutely, it's a 4 star hotel and the Strat is a 3, the Luxor is located on the far South end of the strip, is it worth an extra $500 for the week to stay at the Luxor over the Stratosphere, I guess that's up to you.

If you want a center strip location, the Barbary Coast has as good a location as any hotel in LV. Nice hotel, nice rooms, great TV's, NO swimming pool. BC will price match any online room rate you find for their hotel.

If you want that great pool, try the Flamingo, they have a really nice pool area.

Bally's is okay, nothing special here other than the fact it's located next to Paris, which is a very cool hotel.

Orleans, while it's not on the strip, it's located West of the strip on Tropicana, many people including myself consider the Orleans to be one of the very best values in LV, if not the best. Very nice, over size rooms, great food at bargain prices, tons of things to do on property, low minimums on their gaming tables, even on Friday & Saturday nights. It is possible to get a room at the Orleans with an awesome view of the strip. when you check in ask for a room on the 15th-19th floors, with a room number between 02-44(even), rooms such as 1536 – 1640 – 1824 etc would have great views of the strip. to check it out http://www.orleanscasino.com >the Orleans will also "price match" any online room rate you find for their hotel>same nights of course.

The Harrah's group of hotels will also price match, though they don't make it as easy as the Coast hotels. Harrah's will match and beat any online price for their hotel by 25%. You do have to follow their price guarantee rules, and jump through a few hoops. If you want to stay there, it would be worth your time to check it out. http://www.harrahs.com >Harrah's includes Caesars, Flamingo, Paris, Bally's, Harrah's etc

I spend quite a bit of time in LV, I prefer to go for 2 weeks at a time 2 or 3 times a year. My strategy for bargain hunting rooms.

1-I go during the slowest times of the year in LV – December>after the NFR – and just after Memorial Day are two of my favorites – I'm already holding 10 nights in December($224 total fot the 10 nights)

2-Plan ahead – research – when I find a good or preferable great rate I hold the room, "through the hotel". This way I can continue to look for a better deal right up until I leave. And, just as important the hotel is then able to reward me for my play by comping me the room.

I have 4 hotels that I regulary receive comp nights from, I use those marketing/promotion offers to fill in the time, on my vacations. I highly doubt I will end up staying at the Gold Coast for 10 nights, I will either go earlier or stay later in the month on free nights through marketing offers. But by holding those 10 nights now, it gives me a lot of flexibility..

It's a simple process, but it does require an investment of time.

I also check these for LV room rates

Some hotels are great about sending e-mail offers >
    Mirage
    Luxor
    Golden Nugget
    Stratosphere
    Harrah's and Coast hotel.

  15. I can't help on the hotel because the only time we tried one of them we were VERY disappointed. It was cheap but it was crappy. You can find expensive ones that are not crappy but cheap is always bad news there. You might look for on-strip Casino hotels that have reduced prices.

As far as the rental car the answer is no.There are a lot of free shuttle buses that the hotels all run. They stop at a central location (used to be the Tropicana parking lot.) Each has the logo of its casino painted on it. They have published schedule cards they can hand you.

There is also a monorail that might be fun to travel and that gets you from the southern end of the strip to the center of the strip.
